An independent website for the questions everyone wonders about: am I normal, and how would I know?
Most of us have a rough idea of what's "average" and are often wrong. AboutAverage lets you check: how your pay compares with people your age, how many people are younger than you, whether your electricity bill is high. It also has quick spelling, maths and general knowledge challenges, and a daily game where you guess real averages.
Behind the fun is a careful statistical database built from official sources: national statistics offices and Eurostat. Every number on the site shows where it came from, the year it describes, and how sure we can be of it. Where a comparison can't be made fairly, we say so rather than show something misleading. Read how we work out the numbers.
What we don't do
- No accounts, no subscriptions, no paywall.
- What you type into a comparison stays in your browser.
- We don't sell data, and we don't let advertising change what the statistics say.
