About this quiz

Each round has ten words, starting easy and getting harder. Today's 10 is the same for everyone; practice rounds avoid words you've already seen.

Where UK, Irish and American English differ, we mark you by the convention you choose. For verbs like organise/organize, UK and Irish English accept both endings, so we do too. Words such as analyse, and words that are always -ise (exercise, surprise), are marked as written. In American mode we accept every spelling Merriam-Webster lists as standard.
